Han River Bridge Satay Paste 200g
A traditional Chaozhou-style satay paste from Han River Bridge, crafted in Shantou - the heartland of Teochew cuisine. Although the name shares roots with Southeast Asian satay (the word arrived in China through Teochew and Hokkien traders centuries ago), Chaozhou satay is its own distinct sauce: a savoury, fragrant blend of dried shrimp, dried flatfish, garlic, shallots, chillies, sesame, peanuts and Chinese spices, slow-cooked in oil into a thick, aromatic paste. Pungent, umami-rich and gently spicy. A pantry essential in Chaozhou and Hong Kong kitchens, used for hot pot dipping (the signature pairing), stir-fried noodles, marinades for beef and seafood, or a quick congee topping. Glass jar, 200g.
