Hamasaen Wa No Hojicha Roasted Japanese Green Tea Loose Leaf 40g
Details
Hojicha is Japanese green tea that has been roasted at high temperature — a process that transforms the fresh, grassy character of the original leaves into something altogether warmer and more mellow. Hamasaen uses domestic covered-cultivated tea for this version, roasting it to bring out a deep, caramel-tinged aroma with a naturally sweet, smooth flavour and a surprisingly rounded umami that sets it apart from standard hojicha. Lower in caffeine than sencha, it is particularly well suited to evening drinking and makes a gentle, calming cup at any time of day. Brewed at 90–100°C for 45 seconds, it produces a clear amber liquor with a fragrance that fills the room immediately. The third tea in Hamasaen's Wa no series, and an excellent companion to the Sencha and Genmaicha.
