Details

Nishiki’s Ajishimi Organic Konjac Block is a firm, block-format konnyaku made from organically grown konjac potato (13.31%) certified under Japanese JAS organic standards (certification number JP-BIO-007), produced in Japan using spring water and a unique in-house flavour-absorption method (ajishimi seihō) that allows seasonings to penetrate the konjac more deeply than conventional methods. Unlike most konnyaku, it requires no pre-boiling to remove bitterness — a step that is usually necessary but easy to forget — making it considerably more convenient for home cooking. The texture is firm with a characteristic spring, and it absorbs dashi, soy sauce, and braising liquids well, which is precisely the quality that makes a good konnyaku satisfying in slow-cooked dishes. Use it in oden, nimono simmered dishes, sukiyaki, and stir-fries, or tear it by hand into rough pieces for an uneven surface that grips sauce more readily. The 212g pack (170g drained weight) is a practical everyday size. Drain and rinse before use.

Ingredients

Water, konjac potato (13.31%), konjac flour (1.18%), firming agent: calcium hydroxide
