Takara's Shochu Highball Dry is a canned shochu highball (chuhai) from Takara Shuzo, one of Japan's most established spirits producers. Chuhai as a style traces back to post-war Tokyo in the late 1940s, where shochu was mixed with soda water and sold at standing bars as an affordable, refreshing drink. Takara's version is one of the originals — a dry, carbonated shochu-based drink with the clean, direct character that the style is known for, without added sugar or purines. At 7% ABV it is stronger than the standard convenience store chuhai, with a sharper, more pronounced flavour that suits those who prefer their highball with less sweetness and more presence.
