The term “Char Siu” literally means “roast on a skewer” — pork is skewered on long iron rods or hooks and slowly roasted over charcoal or open flame. Hong Kong-style Char Siu is not just a dish; it represents a perfect combination of daily Hong Kong food culture and culinary artistry.

Traditional Char Siu is made from pork shoulder (pork butt/neck), marinated with soy sauce, honey, rose wine, fermented red bean curd, and a variety of spices to create a sweet-and-Savory glaze. The meat is then slowly roasted over fire. The marinade penetrates the meat, while the honey creates a caramelized surface, giving the Char Siu a glossy reddish colour and slightly charred aroma. After roasting, the outer layer is slightly crisp, while the interior remains tender and juicy.

Heating Instructions:
Defrost in the refrigerator for 12 hours. Microwave on high for 8 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 75°C. (To maintain quality, do not heat continuously. Heat for 2 minutes at a time, repeating 4 times to reach a total of 8 minutes.)
