Peacock Crackers have been a Taiwanese classic since 1969, made by the same company behind Kuai Kuai. The thin, bubbly crackers are baked rather than fried, so they snap with a light, airy crunch and leave no greasy fingers. Each piece is dusted with a savoury blend of fish powder, soy sauce and sesame, lifted by warm five-spice notes of star anise, fennel and cinnamon, with a touch of sweetness underneath that keeps you reaching back into the bag. Tip them into a bowl next to a cold beer or a glass of fizzy drink and they tend to vanish before the drink does.
